One of my earlier shots, this one isn’t the most expertly-composed, but the feeling I got after opening it up in Photoshop and physically feeling the warmth that they image conveyed, it quickly became one of my favorites.
Nothing as beautiful as Siesta Key Beach just before sunset…
A group of seagulls wander Siesta Key beach in Sarasota.
A closeup of the fine sand at Casey Key/Nokomis Beach in Osprey, Florida.
Footprints embedded in the sand, captured next to a bit of sea vegetation recently washed ashore on Siesta Beach.

While shooting a few informal portrait/beach photos for a friend, I noticed the daughter of another friend was enjoying playing in the sand, unaware of anything else going on around her.
I didn’t even have time to compose on this shot; I wanted it to be at her level, so I had to focus first and then hold the camera low and level; I love the purity and carefree spirit is seems to show.
This shot was taken a few years ago, during a sunset on Lido Beach in Sarasota. I’m not sure what the four friends were talking about, or laughing about, but I know they all repeatedly turned their attention to the rays of sunlight streaming through the darkening clouds on the horizon.
